How It Works

Building trust through independent safety testing and transparent information for all road users across the Kingdom

How are vehicles tested?

Discover how Saudi NCAP conducts comprehensive crash tests using rigorous testing protocols. Our testing includes Mobile Progressive Deformable Barrier (MPDB) frontal impact at 50 km/h, full-width rigid barrier test, side barrier and pole impacts, far-side occupant protection, and AEB (Autonomous Emergency Braking) tests for cars, pedestrians, and cyclists.

Crash Test Dummies

Meet the sophisticated family of crash test dummies used in Saudi NCAP testing. We use Hybrid III 50th percentile male and 5th percentile female dummies, WorldSID for side impacts, Q-series child dummies (Q10, Q6, Q3, Q1.5), and specialized dummies for whiplash testing. Each dummy contains over 200 sensors measuring acceleration, force, and deflection.

What do the stars mean?

Understand how Saudi NCAP's star ratings work using a comprehensive assessment protocol. Ratings from 0 to 5 stars are awarded based on performance in four key areas: Adult Occupant Protection (weighted 70%), Child Occupant Protection (30%). A 5-star rating represents the highest level of overall safety performance.
